The present volume is a companion to Authenticating the Words of Jesus and is intended to review the appropriate criteria and necessary steps in assessing the Jesus tradition, particularly the activities of Jesus.

The title Authenticating the Activities of Jesus should not be taken to mean that the contributors have as their aim some sort of apologetical goal, whose purpose is to prove that. In this companion volume to "Authenticating the Words of Jesus, the authors examine the important issue of the original setting and context in which the words of Jesus were spoken.

They proceed on the assumption that authenticating the activities of Jesus is just as important as authenticating his words. A historical framework, made up of several fairly certain facts, must be clarified and. He has published numerous books and scholarly articles on Jesus and Judaism.

New Testament Tools, Studies, and Documents (NTTSD) combines two series, New Testament Tools and Studies (NTTS) and Studies and Documents (SD). The former was founded by Bruce M. Metzger in and edited by him untilwhen Bart D. Ehrman joined him as co-editor. The Jesus Seminar was a group of about 50 critical biblical scholars and laymen founded in by Robert Funk that originated under the auspices of the Westar Institute.

The seminar was very active through the s and s, and into the early 21st century. Members of the Seminar used votes with colored beads to decide their collective view of the historicity of the deeds and sayings.
